Fiber Support Engineer

We are seeking to hire a highly motivated individual in the role of Fiber Support Engineer to join our Business Solutions Team.

This role will be based at the Khalsa Office reporting to the Head of Products. As Fiber Support Engineer you will be responsible for maintaining and troubleshooting fiber optic networks to ensure high-speed data transmission and minimal service disruption.

 

Core Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for governing proper installation and configuration on Customer premises.
  • Creating standard operating procedures (SOP) for optimizing business service delivery performance
  • Responsible to providing Presale’s support for complex network solutions.
  • Configure XGSPON back end as well as able to configure customer end (Routing/Switch/Wi-Fi).
  • Troubleshoot and resolve fiber-related faults, both remotely and onsite.
  • Perform routine maintenance and upgrades to ensure optimal network performance.
  • Coordinate with field engineers and third-party vendors for service restoration and project implementation
  • Updating network equipment to the latest firmware releases.
  • Ensure that the environment is properly documented and all management systems are up to date.
  • Forecasting of planning and deploying fiber expansions.
  • Training business stakeholders to ensure their skills remain current and effective.
  • Provide technical support and guidance to customers and internal teams.
  • Manage upgrades and changes within Digicel customers.
  • Perform root cause analysis of service outages and correspond to ICT cooperate care team.
  • Participate in on-call rotation for after-hours and weekend support.

Academic qualifications, Skills & Experience required for this role:

  • Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Telecommunications, Electronics, or a related field.
  • 1–3 years of experience in fiber optic installation and support.
  • Preferred Certified Fibre Optics Technician (FOA) or from Fibre optics Association (FOA).
  • Knowledge in network routing, switching and WLAN is crucial (CCNA, CCNP or Fortinet certification will be added advantage).
  • Proven technical expertise designing and implementing complex network & Security solutions.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem resolving attitude.
  • Strong ability to professionally communicate both verbally and in writing with in Digicel and to Digicel customers.
  • Self-motivated and ability to manage multiple priorities along with a strong work ethic.
  • Strong project and time management skills.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends or on-call shifts.
