We are currently seeking a highly motivated IP Engineer to join our Technical Operations Team at the Digicel Khalsa office, reporting to the IP Manager. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of our growth and innovation!

 

The IP Engineer is responsible for the technical system operations support and maintenance of Digicel IP infrastructure across Hub markets. This includes the enterprise IP core and all related IP edge networks and international points of presence that Digicel may operate. The IP Engineer works closely with other departments in ensuring proper internal communications and advice on infrastructure upgrades, new product rollouts and service support.

 

Core responsibilities:  

  • Ensure that Digicel IP infrastructure and applications meet the needs of company’s IP guidelines & Standards.
  • Ensure the high availability and reliability of the IP Core network supporting the region’s Internet/Voice and Data systems.
  • Proper design and implementation of new solutions and improving resilience of the current environment.
  • Configure and install various IP network devices and services (e.g., routers, switches, firewalls, VPN, QoS) on the Digicel IP domain.
  • Select the appropriate networking and physical hardware devices that meet the requirements of the existing infrastructure and long-term goals.
  • Liaise with hardware/software suppliers, ensure that all support/maintenance contracts are adequate, and offer best value to the business.
  • Develop and audit IP processes to ensure standardization of all IP configurations and deployments.
  • Provide Level 1 to Level 2 support and troubleshooting to resolve IP issues within agreed SLA’s.
  • Ensure that all systems and network elements are designed and implemented with appropriate level of IP security, consistent and in line with the Digicel Group Security Policy.
  • Perform R&D with a view of continuously improving on, technology, products and services and customer care.
  • Work within established configuration and change management policies to ensure awareness, approval and success of changes made to the network infrastructure
  • Liaise with internal teams to ensure timely development and deployment of new products and services.
  • Provide timely and accurate reports as per business requirement when required.
  • Ensure that all network elements are adequately secured against vulnerabilities by employing the relevant IP security best practices.
  • Maintain all major network elements to achieve 99.99% availability.
  • Ensure the speedy resolution and escalation of faults on the IP network in accordance with agreed service level agreements.
  • Manage & verify all network deployments to meet the appropriate level of IP network security and scalability requirements.
  • Performing network maintenance and system upgrades including service packs, patches, hot fixes and security configurations.

Academic qualifications, Experience & Skills required for this role:

  • B.Sc. or equivalent.
  • At least two (2) years’ experience in IP & Data Technology.
  • Cisco CCNA certification.
  • Basic ITIL knowledge.
