The role is responsible for maintaining the fixed assets register and performing all fixed assets related accounting Digicel Pacific markets like PNG, Fiji, Samoa, Tonga, Vanuatu, DCRFL and Nauru supported by the Fiji Shared Services Centre.  The role is based in Suva, Fiji and reports to the Capex Manager, Shared Services Pacific.

 

Core Responsibilities:

 

  • Maintain a complete and accurate fixed assets register for both book and tax purposes including ensuring that asset description, location, class, depreciation rate, acquisition date etc. are correctly recorded for each asset
  • Review entries to the capital work in progress (CWIP) GL account and ensure assets are capitalized in accordance with Group Accounting Policy
  • Ensure that CWIP accounts are cleared and transferred to fixed assets once assets are commissioned
  • Post the monthly depreciation & amortization journal
  • Setup project codes and project budgets in GP and monitor actual spend versus budget
  • Monitor accounting and cash capex expenditure against budget
  • Review and approve all capex related purchase orders and ensure that Capex Approval Forms are properly completed for all capex requests in accordance with Group policy
  • Prepare fixed assets disclosures and roll forward schedules for statutory reporting and audit workbooks
  • Prepare GL reconciliations for fixed assets ensuring that the Fixed Assets Register reconciles to the general ledger
  • Prepare monthly cash and accounting capex reports and perform manual inputs for fixed assets in Hyperion
  • Prepare Asset Retirement Obligation (ARO) accounting entries based on guidelines provided
  • Co-ordinate fixed asset physical stock takes and impairment reviews with the local markets
  • Assist with internal and external audits in relation to fixed assets and capital expenditure
  • Assist with other fixed asset related projects and regulatory reporting as required
  • Perform Fleet Reconciliation
  • Post monthly capex accruals after reviewing all open PO’s and get CTO approval on work status

 

Academic qualifications, experience and skills required for this role

 

  • University degree in accounting, finance or business studies
  • CPA/CA or equivalent professional accounting qualification or currently working towards this
  • 3+ years’ accounting experience including responsibility for fixed assets, ideally with a multinational corporation
