The primary responsibility of a Senior Business Risk Analyst is to identify and mitigate fraud and risks to Digicel while ensuring accurate recording of the company's revenue streams. This involves conducting monthly interconnect and third-party account reconciliations, monitoring revenue assurance and fraud controls, and developing new checks and procedures to prevent and stop revenue leakage. The overall objective is to uphold and deliver revenue assurance, business assurance, and regulatory compliance, protect the company’s revenue and profitability, and provide reliable information to support informed decision-making. The role also includes managing an extensive risk register and organizing regular stakeholder meetings to update on company progress.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Ensure that all Revenue Assurance and Fraud controls are maintained within the acceptable tolerance level and risk appetite for all revenue lines, such as GSM (Postpaid & Prepaid), ICT, MFS, and Home & Entertainment.
  • Carrying out monthly interconnect and third-party account reconciliations. Reviewing and confirming the transactions between the business and the third-party accounts, locating discrepancies, and promptly and accurately addressing them before payments are released.
  • Responsible for assuring the correctness of Revenue reports, working with cross-functional teams to guarantee consistency across all reports, and conducting rigorous data analysis to find patterns, trends, and anomalies in the data.
  • Accountable for examining all products, promotions and new services to make sure they adhere to business requirements and are built correctly as per the specifications before they are released into the market. Carrying out a thorough risk analysis to identify any revenue loss, regulatory exposures, reputational damage or consumer impact while collaborating with cross-functional teams to put strategies into place to mitigate risks and also develop controls in line with this to monitor the product or product line.
  • Accountable for creating new checks, procedures, and reporting to find and stop revenue leakages. To do this, it is necessary to regularly assess current controls and procedures, pinpoint areas for improvement, create and execute new controls and reports, and collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to ensure the successful implementation of new controls and procedures. In addition, the analyst will possess sufficient aptitude in data analytics through experience to propose or develop new, advanced data models for analyzing large datasets and identifying risks in evolving telecommunication sector.
  • Hold regular stakeholder meetings to update all parties on revenue assurance and fraud management advancements and shortfalls. The analyst will inform the stakeholders of potential and current risks and provide informed and data-driven mitigation strategies. Effective stakeholder communication, cross-functional cooperation, and proactive risk assessment and management are daily functions.
  • Creating consistent reports to assist the organization's ability to make intelligent data-driven decisions. This involves gathering and evaluating data, putting together daily/weekly operational and monthly management reports, and clearly and coherently presenting the information to technical and non-technical personnel.
  • Accountable for keeping an extensive risk record up to date and keeping an eye out for emerging market frauds and technological advancements that could lead to risks within the telecommunication ecosystem. To do this, prospective risks must be identified, suitable controls must be developed to reduce those risks, and the effectiveness of those controls must be monitored and tested.

 

Academic qualifications and Functional Skills experience required for the job:

  • Bachelor's degree in "Computer Science and Information Systems," "Accounting and Finance," or "Telecommunications," or “Certified Fraud Examiner” and possess a minimum of two years of experience in revenue assurance, fraud management, or a closely related field working with strong functional skills.
  • Data Analysis: Expertise in analyzing large volumes of data using tools such as Excel, SQL, Power BI/Tableau or data analytics software, to identify trends, anomalies, and potential risks using agile methodologies.
  • Fraud Management: Understanding of fraud risks and mitigation strategies, including experience in fraud detection, investigation, and prevention and assisting the Business Risk Manager / HOD in the management of BR controls.
  • Process Improvement: Working experience in developing and implementing processes and procedures in the Company to ensure effective revenue assurance and fraud management, and the ability to continuously improve these processes.
  • Collaboration and Communication: Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, such as Finance, Billing, Reporting, Commercial, ICT, MFS, Compliance, H&E, Legal, Audit and Sales.
  • Attention to Detail: Excellent attention to detail, with the ability to identify and investigate instances of revenue leakage and fraud.
  • Reporting: Ability to prepare regular reports and presentations on revenue assurance and fraud management activities, and to communicate findings and recommendations to management.
  • Industry Knowledge: Keep up to date with industry trends and best practices in revenue assurance and fraud management. Have a strong understanding of the telecommunication business model, products, and services. Should be able to align revenue assurance strategies with the company's overall business goals.
  • Regulatory Understanding: The analyst should be able to understand the basic knowledge of “telecommunication” and “Mobile Financial Services” regulations and laws related to revenue management and ensure that compliance breaches are identified and reported to responsible teams.
  • “Guide and Coach” Business Risk Analysts in day-to-day activities and handling of operational functionalities of the department in absence of Manager Business Risk.
