We are seeking to hire a highly motivated individual in the role of GSM/Service Delivery Engineer to join our Technical Team in North reporting to the Team Leader Field Operations.

As the GSM/Service Delivery Engineer, you will be responsible for the operation and maintenance of all APM/DBS, power and transmission equipment and the monitoring of all related environmental factors throughout your region, to ensure 100% availability of all radio base stations at all times. The role will also be responsible for installation, configuration and troubleshooting of ICT/ ISP and satellite equipment and ensure proper process for installation is followed at all time and breakdowns are attended in timely manner.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Configure and install all ICT equipment’s (RF links, fibre and satellite equipment) and unwired modems on customer premises.
  • Troubleshoot link faults, hardware (links, router, switches, camera, satellite, HPBX equipment) on both tower and client end and unwired faults such as speed, signal issue or hardware for customer.
  • Ensure all network KPIs are met on monthly basis and strive to streamline processes and delivery of services in smarter way.
  • Carry out all planned and maintenance as per the set schedule including but not limited to conducting standby generator and battery routine, maintenance of power equipment and automatic transfer switch maintenance.
  • Maintenance of solar equipment on site including cleaning of solar panels, battery terminals, wiring of the solar panel and rectifier unit.
  • Maintenance of shell for the generators on sites to prevent rusting.
  • End to end maintenance of all microwave and APM equipment’s.
  • Swiftly respond to all breakdowns and implement repairs as per set standards.
  • Liaise with equipment suppliers and maintenance contractors to ensure set timelines are adhered to.
  • Ensure standard procedures are followed at all times.
  • Compile and submit reports to your supervisor within the expected timeframe.

Academic qualifications, Skills & Experience required for this role:

  • A diploma or degree in telecommunications/electronics
  • At least three (3) years’ experience in a similar role.
  • Good knowledge on ICT equipment’s, HPBX, satellite installation and maintenance of microwave transmission systems.
  • Proven experience in structured cabling.
  • Ability to climb on towers to carry out maintenance works on Telco equipment with detailed working knowledge of telephony operations.
  • Working knowledge of GSM principles and radio transmitter, receivers and antennae.
  • Thorough understanding of DC and AC power systems.
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Excellent leadership skills/qualities.
  • A group 2 driver’s license.
  • Ability to work unsupervised and handle multiple priority assignments simultaneously.
