Electrician

The Electrician role is responsible for securing sites for installation of telecommunication towers, maintenance and operation of all electrically powered equipment on Digicel’s Transmission sites and Switch/Office.

Key Responsibilities:

• Installation and Maintenance of all AC and DC Power Equipment at sites and Switch (Datacenter)/Office complex according to Digicel standards and keeping in line with EPC’s Policies and regulations.
• Assist the Field Engineers in troubleshooting of electrical issues when required
• Install, configure, and maintain technical equipment and systems at Digicel towers/sites.
• Perform routine maintenance and upgrades to ensure optimal system performance.
• Diagnose and repair technical issues to minimize downtime.
• Liaise with EPC with regards to power to sites
• Liaise with nominated contractors and suppliers with regards to the supply of services, materials and equipment
• Procurement of critical spare parts, material and equipment for contribution to the 100% integrity of the Network
• Implementation of maintenance systems to streamline the scheduling of maintenance of electrical infrastructure so as to avoid unnecessary outages and costs
• Compile and submit weekly reports and updates of performance of critical electrical infrastructure
• Provide on-site and remote technical support.
• Troubleshoot and resolve hardware, software and network-related issues.
• Document all service activities and resolutions in a detailed and timely manner.

Qualifications and Experience:

• Degree in Electrical Engineering (B Tech) or relevant diploma from a recognized institution or equivalent.
• At least 4 years “hands on” experience in the industrial electrical field and multi skilled.
• EPC wireman’s license is an advantage
• Must have knowledge of advanced power systems and good to have GSM mobile network environment experience
• Must have knowledge of hybrid power systems
• Must be computer literate
• Must have knowledge of UPS, Batteries, Rectifiers, Generator, ATS and DBs
• Ability to remotely troubleshoot electrical b/downs.
• Ability to work flexible/odd hours and must be prepared to be on standby and to work on week-ends and callouts/breakdowns when required
• Must have a clean valid driver’s license
• Must be prepared to work in other parts of the country at short notice.
