Field Engineer

 

We are seeking to hire highly motivated individuals as a Field Engineer to join our Technical team.

 

This role will be based at the Apia Office reporting to the Technical Manager. As Field Engineer you will play a crucial role in securing sites for the installation of telecommunication towers, ensuring the expansion and enhancement of the company's network infrastructure. The role includes assessment of potential sites,  research, and collaborating with various stakeholders to complete the site acquisition process successfully.

 

Core Responsibilities:

 

Installation & Maintenance:

  • Install, configure, and maintain technical equipment and systems at Digicel towers/sites.
  • Perform routine maintenance and upgrades to ensure optimal system performance.
  • Diagnose and repair technical issues to minimize downtime.

Technical Support:

  • Provide on-site and remote technical support.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve hardware, software and network-related issues.
  • Document all service activities and resolutions in a detailed and timely manner.

Project Management:

  • Assist in planning and executing technical projects, ensuring they are completed on time and within budget.
  • Collaborate with project teams to integrate new technologies and systems.

Customer Relationship Management:

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients to understand their technical needs and provide tailored solutions.
  • Serve as a point of contact for client inquiries and technical assistance.

 

Academic qualifications, Experience & Skill a required for this role:

  • Tertiary qualification in ICT
  • At least 3 years’ experience in a similar role
  • Excellent customer communication and process management skills
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Must be fluent in both English and Samoan, oral and written
  • Ability to multi-task with pressing deadlines.
  • Must be able to work in a team environment and individually.
  • Strong administrative and facilitator skills
  • Ability to understand and activate motivation and performance in others
  • Dedication to service excellence and operational improvement
  • Passion for employee development
