Mobile Financial Services (MFS) Lead

 

We are seeking to hire highly motivated individuals as a Mobile Financial Services (MFS) Lead to join our Mobile Financial Services team.

 

The Mobile Financial Services (MFS) or My Cash Lead is responsible for leading the overall MFS business by driving sustainable business growth, developing strategic partnerships, ensuring operational excellence, and delivering commercial performance across all MFS products and services. The role oversees the MFS Team while working closely with internal and external stakeholders to expand the MFS ecosystem, enhance customer experience, and ensure operational and regulatory excellence and delivery of key KPIs.

 

Core Responsibilities:

 

Business Strategy & Commercial Performance

    • Execute the MFS strategy and initiatives in alignment with Hub and business objectives.
    • Own and deliver MFS business KPIs, including:
    • MFS Revenue Line
    • MFS Registrations
    • Active Customer Base (30 Days)
    • Distribution Network growth
    • Transaction volumes and values
    • MFS (My Cash) Top-Up growth
    • Cash inflow and wallet funding initiatives
    • Identify new business opportunities and recommend initiatives to grow MFS revenue and customer adoption.
    • Monitor market trends, competitor activities, and customer insights to inform business decisions.

 

Business Leadership & Governance & Compliance

    • Lead and manage the MFS Team, providing direction, coaching, performance management, and professional development.
    • Set departmental priorities and ensure execution of business strategy and initiatives.
    • Coordinate cross-functional initiatives with Sales Teams (Distribution/Retail), Corporate/Business Solutions, Customer Care, Marketing, Finance and Hub support functions (MFS, Governance, Risk & Compliance (GRC), Technical, etc.)
    • Provide strategic updates of the MFS business in management meetings.

 

Distribution & Ecosystem Oversight

    • Provide strategic oversight of the MFS distribution network through the Distribution Executives.
    • Monitor overall distribution performance, coverage, productivity, and growth against business targets.
    • Review and approve distribution expansion plans, agent and merchant acquisition strategies, and performance improvement initiatives.
    • Ensure the MFS Distribution Team is adequately supported to achieve business objectives.

 

Product Growth & Market Development

    • Lead initiatives to increase customer acquisition, customer activity, and product usage across the MFS portfolio.
    • Drive the successful launch and commercialization of new MFS products and services.
    • Develop strategic partnerships with financial institutions, merchants, government agencies, and other ecosystem partners to expand MFS adoption.
    • Work closely with Marketing to deliver campaigns that increase customer engagement and transaction growth.

 

Performance Management & Analytics

    • Monitor and analyze business performance using key commercial and operational metrics.
    • Prepare and present monthly and business performance updates to Senior Management and Hub.
    • Prepare and present quarterly board paper and business performance reports, providing strategic insights, key achievements, risks, opportunities, and recommendations to support executive and Board decision-making.
    • Provide data-driven recommendations to improve revenue, customer growth, transaction activity, and profitability.
    • Track progress against set budgets, forecasts, and strategic objectives.

 

Operational Excellence

    • Ensure effective operational support for MFS products and services by working closely with the Sales Teams (Distribution/Retail), Customer Care and the Hub MFS Technical Team.
    • Oversee the resolution of major operational issues affecting customer experience or business performance.
    • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance service quality and operational efficiency.

 

Compliance & Risk Management

    • Ensure MFS operations comply with regulatory requirements, company policies, and industry standards.
    • Work closely with the GRC Team to mitigate business risks.
    • Monitor key operational and financial risks impacting the MFS business and implement corrective actions where required.
    • Promote strong governance and adherence to AML, KYC, and other regulatory obligations.

 

Stakeholder & Partner Management

    • Build and maintain strong relationships with regulators, banks, agents, merchants, and key business stakeholders.
    • Act as the primary business liaison with the Hub MFS Team for strategic initiatives, reporting, and performance reviews.
    • Negotiate and manage commercial partnerships that contribute to business growth and customer value.

 

Academic qualifications, Experience & Skill a required for this role:

Education

    • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Commerce, Finance, Economics, Marketing, Information Systems, or a related discipline. A postgraduate qualification or MBA is an advantage.

 

Experience

    • Minimum of 5–7 years’ experience in telecommunications, financial services, banking, fintech, or digital financial services, with at least 2–3 years in a leadership or management role.
    • Proven experience in delivering commercial performance and achieving business KPIs, including revenue growth, customer acquisition, transaction growth, and market expansion.
    • Demonstrate understanding of the MFS ecosystem, including mobile wallets, agent and merchant networks, and regulatory requirements.
    • Experience in developing and managing strategic partnerships with financial institutions, government ministries/enterprises, and other key stakeholders.
    • Strong commercial acumen with experience in business planning, budgeting, forecasting, and performance management.
    • Experience in negotiating and managing commercial contracts, partnership agreements, and service level agreements.
    • Proven ability to lead, develop, and motivate high-performing Teams while working collaboratively across cross-functional departments.
    • Strategic thinker with strong commercial and business acumen.
    • Strong leadership and people management capabilities.
    • Excellent analytical, decision-making, and problem-solving skills.
    • Effective stakeholder engagement, influencing, and relationship management skills.
