We are currently seeking a highly motivated Anti-Money Laundering (AML) Analyst to join our Mobile Financial Service, Fiji Team at the Nabua Office reporting to the Senior Manager Risk & Compliance of MFS for Digicel Pacific Hub Markets (Fiji, Samoa, Tonga, and Vanuatu). The primary responsibility of the role is to centrally conduct and manage the Anti-Money Laundering / Counter Terrorism Financing / Sanctions related transactions and customer screening/monitoring for the Hub markets. The role will be working very closely with all the in-country Risk and Compliance Leads to identify and escalate country specific alerts which would require in-country regulatory/internal policy driven actions by the Hub markets
Core responsibilities:
- Perform Transaction Monitoring by actioning and managing all alerts generated by the AML Compliance System for the Hub markets in a timely manner.
- Conduct thorough Customer Due Diligence (CDD) and Know Your Customer (KYC) reviews of all alerts to either de-identify or confirm as a positive match.
- Work with in-country Risk & Compliance Leads for any additional information required to assist with managing the alerts.
- Monitor customer transactions and conduct Enhanced Customer Due Diligence (ECDD) for suspicious activities and through use of data analytics tools. Reporting any potential concerns to the in-country Risk & Compliance Leads.
- Ensure that any positive matches or key concerns are escalated to the in-country Risk & Compliance Leads within the agreed timelines of the detection.
- Maintain proper records of case management for all customer and transaction screening/monitoring outcomes.
- Review KYC Risk alerts, ensuring accurate customer classification and apply ECDD for confirmed High Risk/PEP Customers. Escalate to in-country Risk & Compliance Leads within the agreed timelines after actioning.
- Review of Distribution Channels onboarding and due diligence and provide relevant recommendation
- Collaborate with other departments, such as IT, Operations, MFS teams for information/data gathering to assist with the ECDD.
- Provide feedback and suggestions to SMRC to enhance alert rules, monitoring systems, and investigation protocols.
- Stay informed about emerging trends and typologies related to money laundering and terrorist financing including AML/CTF regulatory requirements within the MFS sector.
- Drive continuous optimization/improvements by reviewing, analyzing and reporting trends and patterns
Academic qualifications, Experience & Skills required for this role:
- University degree in Banking, Finance Accounting, or Commerce.
- Knowledge and understanding of relevant laws and regulations relating to Anti-Money Laundering & Counter Terrorism Financing.
- Minimum of one year experience in the Risk & Compliance function or any other roles involving the AML/CTF related processes/controls either in the front office or back office in a Mobile Financial Service / Mobile Money or Financial Institutions.
- Strong understanding of data analysis and trends analysis.
- Experience in identifying and resolving risk issues, control gaps/weaknesses in an operational setting - preferably in a Mobile Financial Service / Mobile Money or Financial Institutions.
