The Inventory Accountant is responsible for closing month end inventory reports within the month end timetable. They are also responsible for reporting actual results versus budget and forecast, on a weekly basis. The Inventory Accountant will need to ensure that strong working relationships are built with all other functional areas to ensure high levels of customer service are achieved. Other major responsibilities for this role include adherence to compliance and continued process improvement.

 

Core responsibilities:

  • Daily invoicing and Receipting
  • Closing month end reporting for inventory.
  • Ensuring all subledger and GL reports agree to actual stock records
  • Closing month end reconciliation for Balance Sheet items.
  • Coordinating month end stock takes and providing explanations for any variances and inventory adjustments
  • Calculate Landed Cost for all inventoried items on arrival
  • Review Aged Debt Report for all Inventory Sales on a weekly basis
  • Calculate Subscriber Acquisition Cost journal adjustments at month end
  • Review and post month end journals.
  • Weekly reporting of Subscriber Acquisition Cost movements to department heads
  • Provide aged inventory reports and provision for same
  • Maintaining a weekly reconciliation for Revenue from Contracts with Customers (IFRS 15)
  • Develop and build accounting processes for inventory reporting
  • Monitor and ensure strong controls and processes are in place over inventory
  • Liaise with internal and external auditors
  • Maintain good relationship with stakeholders
  • Assist with any adhoc requests and group reporting's

 

Academic qualifications and skills required for this role:

  • Qualified accountant with 2 year's experience in a similar role
  • Experience of working with Great Plains an advantage.
  • Experience of working with a Retail POS system will be an added advantage.
  • Highly organized and efficient
  • Attention to detail and working to tight deadlines
  • Time management skills and ability to handle multiple competing priorities
  • Team player
  • Good communicator
  • Must have excellent MS Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, Teams etc.) skills
