We are currently seeking a highly motivated Risk & Compliance Manager to join our Products Financial Services Team at the Nabua reporting to the Head of Compliance of Mobile Financial Services. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of our growth and innovation!
This role is responsible for ensuring the Mobile Financial Services (MFS) business is compliant with all Anti-Money Laundering (AML) /Combating Financing of Terrorism (CFT), Fraud Prevention and Risk Management in Fiji, Samoa, Tonga and Vanuatu (Hub Markets). This will involve complying with the Company’s Compliance strategy, define and communicate key controls and processes and coordinate with the HoC and the Head of MFS – Hub plan and timeline to implement them.
The selected candidate plays a critical role in ensuring the company's adherence to anti-money laundering (AML) regulations and managing enterprise-wide risk. Works closely with various departments to develop, implement, and maintain robust compliance and risk management programs. This role requires a deep understanding of regulatory requirements, strong analytical skills, and effective communication to ensure the company operates in a compliant and secure manner.
Core responsibilities:
- Manage, develop, maintain and implement AML/CTF, Compliance & Risk Management strategies, policies, procedures, and controls in line with compliance best practice, as well as regulatory and business requirements
- Develop, maintain and implement a compliance and regulatory risk management framework including policies and procedure in line with compliance and regulatory, best practices and business requirements
- Coordinate with Head of Compliance and Head of MFS to ensure adherence to applicable policies, frameworks, laws, regulations and due diligence requirements
- Fulfil the AMLCO/MLRO role and requirements, where applicable and as defined by jurisdiction
- Provide support to Governance and Regulatory Affairs Manager in regards to Corporate Governance and Regulatory Affairs objectives and strategies
- Ensure transaction monitoring and analysis is performed and customer behaviour for suspicious activity is reported to relevant authorities and internal stakeholders as required and in a timely manner.
- Ownership and responsibility of managing relevant AML/CTF monitoring tools
- Ensure all AML/CTF, regulatory and any other key reporting requirements are met
- Act as a point of contact for all regulatory risk and compliance related matters
- Contribute in the development of the MFS business and compliance Strategies
- Foster a culture of compliance and risk through training, workshops and awareness within the organization
- Manage and oversee incident responses and investigations into compliance violations and security incidents and recommend corrective actions and preventive measures
- Manage and review of Customer (Users and Distribution Channels) onboarding process and due diligence
- Manage and Co-ordinate internal & external audit assignments related to AML & Compliance with appropriate actions for closure
- Lead and support a team of Compliance Analysts in the respective markets
- Responsible for helping the Head of Compliance in the preparation of the Compliance annual budgets, quarterly, monthly and weekly forecasts and monitoring performance against the Compliance budget/forecast.
- Drive continuous optimization/improvements by reviewing, analysing and reporting trends and patterns
Academic qualifications, Experience & Skills required for this role:
- Bachelor’s degree in Banking, Accounting, Auditing or Law or a related field. A master's degree or professional certification (e.g., CAMS, CRCM, CFTI) or another similar certification is preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in AML and compliance within financial services or regulatory entity, with a track record of success in risk management.
- Knowledge of AML laws and regulations applicable in Fiji, Samoa, Tonga, and Vanuatu.
- Knowledge and understanding of relevant laws and regulations relating to the Money Service Business, Mobile Money and Banking is required
- Strong understanding of Financial Services and Digital Payments
- Strong understanding Financial Services, AML/CTF, Regulatory environment including data and trends analysis;
- Experience identifying and resolving risk issues in an operational setting, preferably finance related;
- Experience developing AML/CFT and fraud prevention compliance programs, risk strategy and implementation of risk mitigation systems
- Excellent verbal, analytical and communication skills
- Good time management and planning capability
- Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams;
- Attention to detail and high ethical standards
